Iryna has become an affiliate Professor of Geography at UC Berkeley’s Department of Geography (College of Letters and Science) – looking forward to collaborations with the Geography faculty and students!

Iryna has been just awarded a grant from the Hellman Fellows Faculty Fund 2017 for the proposed study “Urban resilience to intensifying heat under different climatic and socioeconomic contexts”.

The paper “Opportunities and constraints in characterizing landscape distribution of an invasive grass from very high resolution multi-spectral imagery” co-authored by Iryna, Erica Spotswood and Katie Suding was just accepted to Frontiers in Plant Science, a special issue on remote sensing of invasive species. Now available online.

Sophie and Iryna have both presented at the annual conference by California Society for Ecological Restoration (May 10-11, 2017, at UC Davis). Iryna gave a talk on the applications of high-resolution remote sensing in wetland restoration monitoring, and Sophie gave a poster presentation on leveraging public aerial image datasets to evaluate post-restoration progress.
